A lot has been said about the future of Samsung’s Exynos chipsets, particularly of the flagship variety. Earlier reports suggested that the company may now use Qualcomm Snapdragon processors exclusively for its high-end devices.

While it’s possible that the company may still ship some variants with the Exynos chipsets, there’s been an interesting development. The official Twitter account for Samsung Exynos has gone dark, so to speak. It begs the question: What’s going on?

Is the future of the Exynos program in doubt?

Samsung has many social media channels for all of its brands and sub-brands. Samsung Exynos has had its own Twitter account since 2011. This is where announcements about new chipsets would be shared in addition to other information about the processors.

If you head over to the official Samsung Exynos account on Twitter right now, you’ll notice that all of the tweets have been protected. You can’t see any of the tweets made using this account. It’s a bit unusual since this isn’t exactly something we’ve seen the company do to hype up new chipset launches either.

What could this represent? Is there going to be a major rebrand of Samsung’s custom mobile processor? Has there been a cybersecurity incident with this account that has resulted in it being locked? Is the Exynos program being wrapped up?

The last one’s a bit unlikely since Samsung makes plenty of entry-level and mid-range devices that use Exynos processors. The uncertainty is only about its flagship Exynos chips for the Galaxy S series, since that’s the only flagship series that uses them now. Samsung’s foldables have exclusively used Qualcomm chipsets ever since they were released.

We’ll keep an eye on this but maybe don’t keep your fingers crossed for some groundbreaking new announcement to come as a result of this.
