Samsung appears to have cooked up another camera feature for the Galaxy S22 series, and this time, it’s seemingly headed for the default Camera app rather than Expert RAW. This upcoming change should especially please fans of hyperlapse video recording, as it will allow Galaxy S22 series customers to modify various parameters when recording in hyperlapse mode.
A few Galaxy S22 customers have asked for more control parameters in hyperlapse mode, including ISO, shutter speed, white balance, and focus. A couple of Samsung camera developers have responded and recently confirmed on the official Community forums that they have looked into adding more ways to manipulate and control the image in hyperlapse mode for the Galaxy S22. They appear to have come up with a solution and “are preparing to apply [it].” (via TheGoAndroid)
The Samsung engineers haven’t revealed a concrete release timeframe for these new Camera features, but they shouldn’t be bound by Samsung’s other plans for One UI 4.1.1 and One UI 5.0. These Pro Mode controls for hyperlapse video recording should be added through a Camera app update rather than a new system firmware, and it might pop up in the Galaxy Store at any moment.
Samsung will probably want to add these hyperlapse Pro Mode options to more Galaxy devices other than the S22 lineup, but we’ll have to wait and see how the roadmap develops and, for that matter, how well these features work in the real world. It’s certainly something to look forward to if you’re a hyperlapse mode enthusiast.
