Galaxy S21 is also getting the October 2022 security update in the US

Earlier today, Samsung released the October 2022 security update to the Galaxy S22 series in the US. That’s quite strange, as the US models are usually the last to get new updates. The South Korean firm has now released a new security update to the Galaxy S21 series in the US.

Galaxy S21 October 2022 security update now available in the US

The carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra have started getting a new software update with firmware version G996USQS5CVI8. The update brings the October 2022 security patch that fixes multiple security vulnerabilities. The new software is currently available on Xfinity Mobile’s network in the US. Samsung could soon release the new update to other carriers and countries.

You can now check for the new security update if you have a carrier-locked version of a Galaxy S21 series phone in the US. You can do that by heading to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our database and then flash it manually. Do back up your personal data before flashing the new firmware, though.

The Galaxy S21 series debuted early last year with Android 11-based One UI 3 onboard. The three smartphones in the series received the Android 12-based One UI 4 update late last year. Samsung is already testing the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 software on these devices, and a stable version could be released before the end of this year.
